Description

Pattern Details: Jayne is a versatile pattern offering multiple styles:

  • Shirt, Blouse, Dress, or Skirt: Elevate your autumn wardrobe with Jayne.
  • Customization Options:
    • Swap shirt front pieces for blouse ties for a casual look.
    • Add a smocked skirt to the shirt for a dressier version.

Recommended Fabrics:

  • Shirt or Blouse: Lightweight, drapey fabrics like viscose, satin, silk.
  • Dress: Medium-weight drapey fabrics or pre-smocked fabric. Avoid stretch fabrics for DIY smocking.
  • Not Recommended: Stiffer fabrics like cotton or linen for the dropped shoulder version.

I sew my shirt dress version with the La Maison Naïve viscose in Sienne color.

Materials Needed:

  • Fabric: Medium-weight drapey fabric (viscose, satin, silk, etc. – cf. below).
  • Interfacing: 60 cm x 110 cm fusible interfacing + fusible stay tape.
  • Buttons:
    • Shirt Version: 11 buttons (10 mm or 12-15 mm).
    • Shirt Dress Version: 10 buttons (10 mm or 12-15 mm).
    • Blouse Version: 4 buttons (10 mm) for cuffs.
  • Thread: High-quality matching sewing thread (strong for gathering).
  • Fabric Markers: Essential for the smocked skirt.
  • Elastic Thread: 80 meters of 1 mm elastic thread for the smocked dress option.
  • Additional Thread: 2 spools of high-quality matching sewing thread for the smocked dress.
