The Billie jumpsuit pattern offers two length options: shorts or cropped pants. Initially, I considered providing a full-length pant version, but it’s challenging to offer a standard length that fits everyone. Instead, here’s a tutorial to easily lengthen the legs to your perfect size! I promise, it’s not complicated 🙂
Lengthening the Pants from the Pattern
I’ve marked a spot on the pattern that allows you to lengthen the legs to your desired length without altering the leg shape.
Cut out the front and back pieces in your size.
Then, cut the pattern paper along the marked line on each leg front and back to lengthen the legs.
Start by taping the upper part of each leg onto a blank piece of paper.
Now, we’ll determine how many centimeters to add based on your leg length. Each Poesis pattern is designed for a base height of 163 cm.
For the cropped version, the pant length is 80 cm from the waist to the hem when finished.
In our example on the diagram, we choose to lengthen the Jumpsuit of +25 cm.
Now, we’ll tape the bottom part of the pants that we cut in step 1.
Make sure to position the bottom part parallel to the top part already taped, at the distance determined in step 2. Tape everything securely.
Refer to the diagrams.
Once the two pieces of each leg are placed on the blank paper, join the lines using a ruler and pencil.
Cut out your pattern paper with seam allowances included, and you’re ready to move on to your fabric.
